About Dinokeng Game Reserve

Gauteng proudly welcomed its first visitors to the malaria-free Big Five Dinokeng Game Reserve in 2011, and since then the 21,000-hectare reserve has grown into a free-roaming haven for lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and rhino — alongside cheetah, brown hyena, giraffe, zebra and a myriad bird species, including the endangered blue crane and a breeding pair of martial eagles. Varying terrain ranging from bushveld to grassy floodplains and thornveld is best enjoyed on two self-drive game routes. Beyond vehicle game viewing, take to the skies with Big Sky Ballooning or a Family Adventure Microlight Flight, or enjoy a scenic boat cruise, a guided bush walk, fishing or a cultural tour. Guided by the philosophy of UBUNTU towards people and nature alike, Dinokeng is building a conservation model for the future — just an hour north of Pretoria and Johannesburg.
